When you are going on a date, you will probably be showered by dating advice by your friends. Here are 3 simple rules that you should stick to.

Duration

The duration of dating should not be long enough to get tiresome, especially if your date happens to bore you to death and nor should be so short that you can hardly know each other. Even if you two get on like a house on fire, stick to the time you had agreed upon so that both of you hanker for more and would like to fix another date pretty soon. The first date should not last longer than 2 to 3 hours, which is enough time to know if you two like each other’s company. However, if you fix up a movie date, you need to take a much leisurely approach because you can hardly talk while watching a movie.

Venue

Many times, people are at a loss where to go for a date. A good restaurant can be your first choice as it gives you the opportunity to sit back and relax in a nice atmosphere and talk to your date to your heart’s content. A pub or a club may be a bad idea for the first date simply because there may be too much noise which effectively hinders a conversation. A  beach or any other natural setting is also a wonderful place to take your date to. Everybody knows romance has a mysterious link with nature and any beautiful natural setting can bring romanticism out of the most prosaic person on Earth.

Dress code

Your dress should depend on where you are going. My dating advice on dress will be, don’t wear loud and flashy clothes and accessories. You don’t want to look like a clown. Also, try not being too casual in dress selection thinking that your date should see you as you really are. This is a good philosophy theoretically, but practically, everybody likes a good packaging. I mean, come on, what will be your first impression of a person who comes for an important interview in an old shirt, a pair of ancient, colorless jeans and worn out sneakers? Your personal dress code may be way better than that, but give your date at least that much respect to try to dress really well.
